What Is the Girls-in-ICT Programme?
The Girls-in-ICT initiative is a flagship programme by Ghana’s Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MOCDI) in partnership with GIFEC, KACE, and industry leaders like MTN and Huawei. It aims to empower junior and senior high school girls with coding, digital literacy, and ICT career skills.

Who Can Enroll?
To qualify for the Girls-in-ICT Programme, you must:
Be a female student aged 11–17
Be enrolled in JHS 1–3 or SHS 1–2
Live in a region currently hosting the programme
Show interest in STEM/ICT subjects
💡 Note: Each year, the programme rotates across regions. For 2025, active regions include Eastern, Upper West, Volta, and Bono East.
How to Apply: Step-by-Step
1. Get Information From Your School
The Municipal or District Education Directorate will announce the opening of registration.
Teachers or ICT coordinators will nominate or help register interested girls.
2. Submit Your Name to Your ICT Coordinator
Express interest early—there are limited slots.
Schools often select based on academic performance, interest in ICT, or prior participation in digital clubs.
3. Wait for Regional Screening
Successful applicants will be contacted for screening or placement at ICT training centres.
In some cases, online aptitude tests or interviews are conducted.
4. Participate in Boot Camp Training
Selected girls undergo a one-week hands-on training in coding (HTML, CSS, Python), gaming, robotics, and digital safety.
5. Compete and Win Prizes
Top-performing participants receive laptops, tablets, scholarships, or mentorship.
Some may be chosen to represent their district or region at national Girls-in-ICT events.
