EducationGhana| January 13| GNAT Interest on Loans: The Fund managers of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Teachers Fund has indicated that the Teachers Fund Board cannot reduce the interest rate on loans at the moment.

The union at its 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference held on the 2nd-7th January 2022 made this decision as part of conference resolutions held at the KNUST Great Hall, Kumasi.

Responding to questions regarding the interest on loans by the teachers’ fund managers, the Fund managers said the inflation rate is high at the moment and a further reduction in the interest rate will not ensure the sustenance of the Fund.

World Teachers Day

The Union reiterated the fact that World Teachers Day is not a Holiday for teachers.

”GNAT has decentralized the celebration of World Teachers Day to ensure that teachers participate in the activities” The Union said.

 

District Secretariats

The resulting also indicated that GNAT Headquarters should as a matter of urgency, complete the creation of the remaining ten (10) District Secretariats approved by the National Delegates Conference in 2014.

Orientation of Leaders

The conference also added that orientation courses should be organized for newly-elected Executive members and School Representatives

In addition, the  GNAT was tasked to provide permanent secretariats and duty post accommodation for the Districts.
