EducationGhana | January 13 | GNAT Housing Scheme: The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has considered introducing a housing scheme policy for its members.

The union at its 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference held on the 2nd-7th January 2022 made this decision as part of conference resolutions held at the KNUST Great Hall, Kumasi.
”GNAT is to consider the introduction of a Housing Scheme Policy for members.” The GNAT said.
Conference decisions
GNAT National Officers will be mandated to visit all the sixteen regions and other key institutions in the country in order to explain the implementation procedures of conference decisions to members.
District Secretariats
The conference proposed that the GNAT Headquarters should as a matter of urgency, complete the creation of the remaining ten (10) District Secretariats approved by the National Delegates Conference in 2014.
Orientation
The 2022 conference also proposed that orientation courses should be organized for newly-elected Executive members and School Representatives.

The conference also added that GNAT should provide permanent secretariats and duty post accommodation for the Districts.
Recruitment
The GNAT has been tasked to advocate for the GES to recruit qualified teachers from deprived Districts and post them to the same area.
