Ghana Scholarships Secretariat Announces 2026 Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship for Trained Teachers


The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat has opened applications for the 2026 Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship for trained teachers. Deadline for submission is January 30, 2026.

MEXT Teacher Training Scholarship Opens for 2026

The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat (ScholSec), under the Office of the President, has announced the opening of applications for the Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship for 2026, specifically targeted at trained teachers. The announcement, dated 13 October 2025, is for immediate circulation and invites qualified Ghanaian teachers to apply for the competitive international scholarship.  

Scholarship Category and Target Group

According to the notice, the MEXT scholarship opportunity is available exclusively to trained teachers. The programme falls under the Teacher Training Students category of the Japanese Government’s Monbukagakusho scholarship scheme. This category is designed to strengthen professional teaching capacity through advanced training in Japan.

Application Forms and Guidelines

Applicants are required to carefully review the official application guidelines and complete the prescribed application forms. The forms and detailed requirements are available through the website of the Embassy of Japan in Ghana:

Applicants are advised to read all instructions thoroughly before submission to avoid disqualification.  

Submission Procedure

Completed application forms must be submitted to the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, which will forward eligible applications to the Embassy of Japan in Accra for further processing. Direct submissions to the Embassy are not indicated in the notice.  

Application Deadline

The deadline for submission of completed application forms is 30 January 2026. Applicants are encouraged to submit early to allow sufficient time for verification and onward dispatch.
