Date for Commencement of Negotiations for 2021 National Daily Minimum wage announced

NATIONAL TRPARTITE COMMITTEE

The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) has invited the National Trepartite Committee for a meeting scheduled for Thursday, 22nd  April , 2021 in the Ministry’s conference room.

Purpose of Meeting

The purpose of the meeting according to the ministry is to commence negotiations on the determination of the National Daily Minimum Wgae (NDMW).

The meeting is expected to begin at exactly 10:00 am.

 

The Trepartite Committee (NTC)

The National Trepartite Committee consists of represntation comprises of 18 members representing Government, Organizws Labour  and the Ghana Employers Association. The Committee is chaired by the Labour Minister.

Some notable members include The Minister of Finance, Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission ,The Chief Labour Officer at the Labour Department and the Gocernment Statiscian representing the Government.

Also included on the Committee is the Secretary General of the Trade Unions Council(TUC) , The Genral Secretary of the National Association of Teachers (GNAT), The General Secretary of The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) and the Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana, (CLOGSAG) representing Oganised Labour.

The final list consists of the President , Chief Executive Officer, Council Member, Director and the Research Officer of the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA) representing the Ghana Employers Association (GEA).

Mandate of the Trepartite Committee (NTC)

NTC deals with labour legislation and labour policy matters. The Committee constituted sub-committees to deal with the following subjects:
i. minimum wage and legislation;
ii. industrial disputes;
iii. ILO matters;
iv. social services;
v. occupational safety and health; and
vi. training and placement.
