The Ministry of Education has activated the 2025 CSSPS portal for BECE candidates to check their SHS/TVET school placements. Here’s a step-by-step guide plus FAQs on how to access your placement for free.

Ministry of Education Activates 2025 School Placement Portal   The Ministry of Education has officially announced that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal is live for candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Parents and candidates can now check their school placements online to confirm which Senior High School (SHS), Technical, or Vocational institution they have been admitted to for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Step-by-Step Guide to Check Your Placement

To access your placement, follow the instructions below:

  1. Visit the official CSSPS website: www.cssps.gov.gh

2. Click on the “Check Placement” button.

3. Enter your 10-digit BECE Index Number followed by the last two digits of your examination year. Example: 100000000025 (for 2025).

4. (Optional) Enter your Date of Birth. 5. Your placement details will then be displayed on the screen.

Placement is Free

The Ministry has cautioned parents and students against paying any individual to check placements. Both placement access and checking are completely free through the official portal.   Candidates are encouraged to rely only on the official CSSPS website to avoid fraud.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. What if my placement does not show?   If your placement details do not appear after entering your information, it may be due to high traffic on the portal. Wait a few minutes and try again. If the issue persists, contact your regional education office.

2. Can I change my placement if I am not satisfied?   Yes. The Ministry usually allows a self-placement window where students who were not automatically placed can select available schools with vacancies. Instructions will be provided on the CSSPS portal.

3. What documents do I need after checking my placement?   Once placed, you should print your placement form and prepare your admission documents, including your BECE results slip, to present at the school.

4. Is placement guaranteed for all BECE candidates?   Not all candidates may be placed in their first-choice schools. Placement is based on merit, available vacancies, and selection preferences. Those not automatically placed can use the self-placement system.

5. Who can I contact for help?   For any technical or placement-related issues, contact the CSSPS Secretariat, your regional education office, or call the official helplines published by the Ministry of Education.

Background

The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) was introduced to ensure a fair, transparent, and merit-based placement of BECE graduates into second-cycle institutions in Ghana.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of students are placed into SHS and TVET schools across the country based on their performance and school selection choices.   The 2025 placement marks another milestone in Ghana’s efforts to strengthen equitable access to quality secondary education.
