ST Augustine’s College settled a ‘beef’ with a straight win over main rivals Mfantsipim and Swedru-based SWESCO to qualify for the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz Competition.
The competition,which was the much anticipated 2019 National Science and Maths Quiz contest which features these three schools from the Central Region.
It is a battle for Supremacy for either St. Augustine’s College or Mfantsipim – the two big schools in Cape Coast.
Round one ended and it was St. Augustine’s College which took the lead.
They answered almost all their major questions correctly and picked up a number of questions which were answered by the other two schools, mainly Swedru SHS.

The race was to feature the three schools but we witnessed a battle between Augusco and the Botwe boys.
Nearly 90% of the questions were either picked by St. Augustine’s College or Mfantsipim School, in a rare occurrence, Swedru attempted to answer some of the questions.
At the determination of St. Augustine’s College, it is nearly impossible for favourites Mfantsipim School to overtake them in the contest. .
Despite attempting many questions, Round 2 results show that the lost some 3 points, with Augusco increasing from 22points with 36points.
Swedru SHS also gained a single point in this round and this leaves them practically out of the contest.
The contest ended with St. Augustine’s College heading for the quarterfinal.
They beat city rivals Mfantsipim College in a contest that was anticipated by many.
Mfantsipim School will now have to qualify for next year’s competition through the stressful Regional contests.
