University Practice SHS Books National Championship Slot After Tense Central Zonal Final

The 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Central Championship saw University Practice Senior High School (UPSHS) narrowly edge past fierce competitors to emerge victorious.

In a tightly contested finale, UPSHS scored 38 points, beating Mankessim SHTS (35 pts) and Winneba SHS (33 pts). Other participants included Ghana National College (22 pts) and Senya SHS (19 pts).

Their victory secures them a coveted spot in the 2025 NSMQ National Championship, representing the Central Region.

“It was a close battle till the end! UPSHS has once again proven their resolve under pressure,” noted a quiz coordinator from Primetime.

  • UPSHS led by only 3 points, showcasing a brilliant final round comeback.
  • Mankessim SHTS and Winneba SHS followed closely, indicating increasing regional competitiveness.

With this victory, UPSHS joins the roster of zonal winners heading to the NSMQ National Championship, adding to their reputation as one of Central Region’s most consistent science schools.

The school is expected to fine-tune their strategies ahead of the National Prelims, hoping to make a deep run and possibly secure a national title.

The NSMQ Regionals, sponsored by GOIL PLC, continue to build momentum across the country, offering a platform for academic excellence and inter-school collaboration.

The Central Region has seen stiff competition this year, with St. Augustine’s College and Mfantsipim School also reaching the finals of the zonals.
