Spotlight on Ahafo’s Powerhouses

Mim Senior High School

Mim SHS has become a household name in Ahafo when it comes to academic contests. Its seeded status reflects years of hard work and steady growth in science and mathematics.

Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS

A proud all-girls’ institution, Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS continues to inspire young women in Ahafo to pursue STEM-related careers. Their qualification adds a strong gender dimension to Ahafo’s 2025 NSMQ campaign.

Gender Representation and STEM Advocacy

The qualification of Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS for NSMQ 2025 ensures that Ahafo Region is not left out of Ghana’s broader vision of promoting women in STEM (MoE Ghana). Their participation reflects both government and community-level efforts to enhance inclusivity in science and mathematics education.

Challenges Facing Ahafo Schools

As a relatively new region, Ahafo faces challenges of infrastructural limitations, under-resourced science laboratories, and teacher shortages in rural communities. However, ongoing interventions by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Free SHS policy are gradually addressing these barriers.

The Future of Ahafo in NSMQ

Though relatively young in NSMQ competition history, Ahafo Region has already started to build a reputation for resilience and excellence. The presence of Mim SHS   and the determined efforts of Serwaa Kesse Girls’ SHS   show that Ahafo is steadily carving a niche in Ghana’s most prestigious academic contest. With continued investment in education, science infrastructure, and mentorship, Ahafo’s schools could soon challenge traditional NSMQ giants from Ashanti and Greater Accra.
