The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has provided free mattresses and chop boxes to 2,207 students from his constituency who are about to begin their senior high school education.

In a Facebook post on Friday, September 19, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa said the initiative is to ensure that no student is left behind because of financial challenges. He added that the gesture is part of his commitment to remove barriers to education and prevent school dropouts.“All my beloved 2,207 fresh North Tongu SHS students don’t have to worry about buying mattresses and chop boxes — their MP has got them covered for free,” the MP announced.

In addition to this support, Mr. Ablakwa revealed that the five senior high schools in the North Tongu constituency are undergoing major infrastructural expansion. New dining halls and dormitories are being constructed to improve facilities for students.He described the initiative as a continuation of the North Tongu tradition of prioritizing education, stressing that “every barrier shall be removed; no one must drop out.”The project has been warmly received by parents and students in the constituency, who say the intervention will ease the burden of preparing their wards for school.
