”No amount is being Charged for Training of Teachers on New Curriculum” – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has denied reports that its outfit is charging teachers in the Upper East region an amount of GHC60.00 for taking part in the ongoing training on the new curriculum.

The GES has said that its attention has been drawn to a news publication by wordfmonline which suggests teachers have been asked to pay Gh60.00 before they are trained on the new curriculum.

In a statement issued by Cassandra Twum Ampofo ,Head , Public Relations Unit of the GES,on Monday,May 13,2019 , the GES said it is not true and it is a calculated attempt to undermine the smooth running of the training workshops which has began.

”It must be noted that the said letter which the publication made reference to was a letter signed by the Upper East Regional Director of Education for Teachers in the Region to attend a capacity building workshop organized in collaboration with a private education consult.” It said.

”This has absolutely nothing to do with the curriculum and Management has halted that intended exercise in the Region. The reason is that the curriculum activities now, supersedes all other activities in the Service.” The statement emphasized.

”Management will like to assure our hardworking teachers that no amount is being charged in any of the training workshops on the effective implementation of the new curriculum.” It said.

The GES further indicated, the Ministry of Education has provided the necessary funds to carry out the training of all teachers from KG- P6 .

”The Ghana Education Service in collaboration with National Council for curriculum and Assessment is also poised to carry out its mandate to ensure that quality Education is provided to the Ghanaian child.” The statement concluded.
