EducationGhana, July 21, PTA: Teachers at the Basic and Senior High/Technical Schools in the country are expected to be excluded as members of the Parents and Teachers Associations (PTAs).

Change in Name

According to sources close to Education Ghana, the name Shall be changed to Parents Association (PA) from the usual Parents and Teachers Association(PTA).

Purpose of Change of Name

According to reports, the reason for the change of name is to allow parents take decisions freely without necessarily involving teachers.

It has been argued, that the teacher’s involvement mostly led to the sending of students home for dues and other PTA levies.
