The GES said its data does not correspomd to the data submitted by the Unions.
”Some teachers quoted 300,000 whilst others one million as the amount govt owed them. GES presented a counter number around 14,000 but the challenge has been that the union has to get in touch with the teachers who had suspected the wrong quotation of arrears figures.”
Meeting with President
The difference is supposed to be ironed out before meeting the Minister and subsequently meet the President of the subsequent decisions with regards to the payment of the legacy arrears.
The President, during his last meeting with the Unions, instructed that once the GES and the Unions agree on the number, they need to come back to him for his direction.
Challenges
According to the Unions, The COVID 19 disrupted an earlier arrangement to meet the teachers with wrong figures but have managed to call some for confirmation.
