The Management of the Mount Sinai Senior High School (SHS) in Akropong Akuapem in the Eastern Region has reportedly expelled three final year students for using a mobile phone in the school, Starr News has reported.
According to reports, one of the students who managed to bring the mobile phone into the school connived with the other students to hide it in a trunk during an investigation by the school authorities.
The expelled students, however, denied the whereabouts of the mobile phone when further interrogated by the school authorities until it was found.
Following their misconduct, the authorities immediately handed them indefinite expulsion.
Mother of one of the students speaking to Starr News said she went to the school to plead for moderate punishment given that the students have few weeks to complete school.
According to the mother, the management of Mount Sinai Senior High School said it would be communicated whenever the school reviews and moderates the punishment.
The Headmaster of Mount Sinai SHS, Wise Dunu, confirmed the expulsion but refused to give further explanations saying until he is given permission by the Municipal Education Director.
President Akufo-Addo in one of his nation’s address announced for school to be reopened to the second batch of final year students and also form 2 Gold track students in June 22 to complete the 2019/2020 academic year and prepare to sit for the 2020 WASSCE for school candidates in August this year.
As part of measures to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus that has killed 117 people as of June 3, 2020, the Minister for Education, Dr. Mattew Opoku Prempeh stated that parents and guardians are not permitted to visit their children in school.
