 The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has officially announced its new national leadership for the 2026–2030 term, marking the beginning of a fresh four-year mandate for the country’s largest teacher union.The announcement follows the conclusion of GNAT’s national electoral processes, which brought together delegates from across all regions to elect officers to steer the affairs of the association at a critical moment for Ghana’s education sector.  

Prosper Techie ESQ Takes the Helm

At the centre of the new leadership is Prosper Techie ESQ, a teacher at T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in the Ashanti Region, who has been elected National President of GNAT.His election places him in charge of shaping national teacher advocacy, labour negotiations, and professional development policies over the next four years.

According to the official release, the newly constituted national executive is as follows:
  • National President: Prosper Techie ESQ Duty Post: T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS Region: Ashanti
  • Vice President: Mary Clare Abakisi Ayuelecheng Duty Post: Sandema SHS Region: Upper East
  • National Treasurer: Ransford Kofi Nsiah Lolih Duty Post: District Education Office, Prampram Region: Greater Accra
  • 1st National Trustee: Charlotte Boakye Duty Post: District Education Office, Assin Fosu Region: Central
  • 2nd National Trustee: Evans Theophilus Tetteh Tamatey Duty Post: District Education Office, Krobo Odumase Region: Eastern
