Why the Harmonized Prospectus Matters

In past years, parents and guardians complained about inconsistent and sometimes excessive demands from individual schools. The GES harmonized prospectus seeks to:
  • Ensure fairness and uniformity across schools.
  • Reduce financial pressure on families by cutting unnecessary requirements.
  • Improve accountability since all items must be embossed with the student’s name.
  • Promote health and hygiene through items like mosquito nets, detergents, and cleaning tools.

Implications for Parents and Students

For many parents, the harmonized prospectus provides clarity and reduces the stress of preparing for SHS. However, the list still represents a significant financial commitment, especially for boarding students who need items such as trunks, chop boxes, and mattresses.Education analysts have praised the harmonization but urged GES to explore further support systems, such as scholarship packages and partnerships with local suppliers, to ease costs.
