Ferdinand | EducationGhana | January 10 | GES, NTC Roll Out National CPD Day Phase Two With Data Protection Training for Teachers
The Ghana Education Service ( GES) and National Teaching Council have announced Phase Two of National CPD Day, focusing on data protection training for teachers through a nationwide virtual programme on January 15, 2026.
The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the National Teaching Council (NTC), has announced Phase Two of the National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day, with a strong focus on data protection training for teachers across the country.
The virtual training is scheduled for January 15, 2026, and will be delivered nationwide through the Katon Meet platform, which has been designated as the official training interface.
Why Data Protection Matters for Teachers
Education authorities say the programme is aimed at strengthening teachers’ understanding of data privacy, digital safety, and responsible handling of learner information, especially as schools increasingly rely on digital platforms for instruction, assessment, and record keeping. With classrooms becoming more technology-driven, the training seeks to ensure teachers comply with national data protection standards and ethical practices
261 District Host Accounts Activated
GES confirmed that 261 district host accounts have been created to support seamless participation and coordination nationwide. District education offices will supervise sessions and ensure full teacher participation. This decentralised hosting approach is expected to improve access, reduce connectivity challenges, and enhance monitoring. RELATED ARTICLES

Part of Ongoing CPD Reforms
The National CPD Day forms part of broader reforms to professionalise teaching and align classroom practice with emerging digital and legal requirements. Officials say Phase Two builds on lessons from earlier CPD engagements, with a sharper emphasis on digital responsibility and teacher accountability.
Teachers Urged to Participate Fully
GES and NTC have urged all teachers to actively participate, stressing that CPD activities remain central to licence renewal, professional growth, and quality assurance within Ghana’s education system. Further operational details are expected to be communicated through district education offices ahead of the training date.
