“Get ready for the 2024 SHS/TVET school placement process. GES announces key dates for BECE graduates, including registration, orientation, and the start of full academic work on November 7. Learn how to check your placement and avoid rogue portals.”
The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), has officially announced that full academic work for first-year students in all second-cycle institutions will commence on November 7, 2024.
This follows the release of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results, marking a pivotal step for BECE 2024 graduates as they prepare to transition into Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country.
Registration and Orientation Scheduled for October 30, 2024
According to a statement by the GES, first-year students are expected to report to their respective placed schools on October 30, 2024, for registration and orientation. During this period, students will go through familiarization activities, allowing them to settle into their new school environments before academic work begins.
Is October 30 a Mandatory Reporting Date?
In an interview, Kwasi Kwarteng, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Education, clarified that while October 30 marks the start of the registration process, it is not compulsory for all students to report on that exact date. The registration process is expected to be flexible, accommodating students who may need a few extra days to make necessary arrangements.
“Students are expected to go to school to begin the registration process which also includes orientation. However, missing October 30 will not affect their admission status,” Kwarteng explained, adding that the main focus in the initial weeks will be on registration and settling into the school environment.

Final Takeaway for BECE Graduates
With the placement results out and orientation set to begin on October 30, BECE 2024 graduates have a well-outlined path to transition smoothly into their second-cycle institutions. By November 7, students will embark on their academic journey, marking the start of their SHS or TVET education experience.
