GES Explains Off-Campus Learning Arrangements

GES stated that specific provisions have been made to support teaching and learning during online and off-campus periods, particularly for students in transition schools.

According to the Service, these arrangements ensure that learning continues seamlessly and that off-campus periods are treated as an integral and mandatory part of the academic programme, not vacations.

Approved Learning Channels for Off-Campus Periods

GES outlined three main avenues through which students will continue learning during off-campus periods:

  1. Projects and Assignments Students will engage in guided self-learning through approved projects, tasks, and assignments aligned with the national curriculum. All approved textbooks and curriculum materials for all subjects and levels are available free of charge on curriculumresources.edu.gh.

2. Television-Based Instruction Daily lessons will be broadcast live on Ministry of Education Television (MoE TV), available on Multi TV, to support learners nationwide.

  3. School-Based Learning Management Systems (LMS) Schools that operate Learning Management Systems have been directed to fully activate and utilise them during off-campus periods, with GES providing the necessary support.

Off-Campus Learning Is Not a Break – GES Warns

GES emphasised that online and off-campus periods are not holidays or breaks, but a compulsory component of instructional time.

The Service urged: Heads of schools to ensure compliance Teachers to actively support learners Parents and guardians to supervise and encourage student participation Failure to engage students during these periods could undermine learning outcomes and assessment continuity.

Assurance to Stakeholders

GES reaffirmed its commitment to equitable access to learning, noting that the multiple delivery channels are intended to ensure that every student can participate through at least one platform, regardless of location or school type.
