The Minister visited both the Koforidua Technical Institute and St. Paul’s Technical Institute, where he interacted with staff and final-year students as they began their TVET final examinations.
“Skills Are the New Currency” – Minister to Students
During his engagement, Hon. Iddrisu emphasized that TVET remains a critical pathway to addressing youth unemployment and national development. He encouraged the candidates to take their training seriously, stressing that technical skills are vital for both industry and self-employment.
“In a time when traditional jobs are shrinking, your practical skills will make you job creators, not just job seekers,” he said.
Public Holiday Will Not Affect Exams – CTVET
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Commission for TVET (CTVET), Mr. Zakaria Sulemana, has clarified that the upcoming public holiday on Friday, July 4, 2025, will not affect scheduled examinations. He assured all stakeholders that exams set for that day would proceed without disruption.
Strengthening TVET Nationwide
The Ministry of Education, under Hon. Iddrisu’s leadership, continues to:
- Expand access to TVET through infrastructure investment
- Partner with industry to align curricula with labour market needs
- Introduce modern tools and technologies into practical training
- Advocate for the establishment of a dedicated TVET Fund to boost financing
These reforms are part of Ghana’s broader Education Strategic Plan, which recognises TVET as a strategic pillar for industrialisation and inclusive development.
