Introduction
Akrokeri College of Education has been named the Topmost College of the Year 2025, setting a new benchmark for teacher education in Ghana. The recognition is based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, infrastructure, programmes, accreditation, and student outcomes across all 46 Colleges of Education.
The college’s dominance this year reflects both its investment in teaching and learning and its students’ remarkable academic discipline.
Ranking Methodology
The EducationGhana.org 2025 Top Colleges Ranking was developed using a weighted methodology across five indicators:
Academic Performance (40%) – Based on graduating class results from 2025.
Infrastructure and Learning Environment (20%) – Quality of lecture halls, libraries, laboratories, ICT facilities, and student accommodations.
Programmes and Curriculum Innovation (15%) – Range and quality of accredited Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programmes and professional development opportunities.
Geography and Population (10%) – Accessibility, student diversity, and population growth.
Accreditation and Recognition (15%) – Standing with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and affiliations with public universities.
Data was compiled from graduation statistics, GTEC accreditation reports, and verified institutional audits.

Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong: Produced 289 First Class graduates and 328 Second Class Upper out of 658, maintaining its reputation as a premier teacher training centre in the Eastern Region.
E.P. College of Education, Amedzope: Delivered 252 First Class and 295 Second Class Upper graduates, reflecting consistent academic strength.
OLA College of Education, Cape Coast: Recorded 136 First Class and 259 Second Class Upper, standing out for both quality teaching and strong female student outcomes.
Komenda College of Education: Produced 189 First Class and 308 Second Class Upper out of 590, showing impressive improvements in academic delivery.
Kibi Presbyterian College of Education: Despite a lower First Class count (125), it maintained a solid output with 333 Second Class Upper, underlining academic balance.
Across these institutions, no student was recorded under “Pass”, showing a shift towards higher levels of academic achievement nationwide.
