The Acting Finance Officer of the University of Education, Winneba, in a petition written to Archbishop Charles G. Palmer-Buckle, has detailed how the Vice Chancellor of the University, who doubles as a Catholic priest, has stabbed him in the back.
Mr. Bruno Bajuase Chirani, recounting his ordeal, said that he is also a member of the Catholic Church and is the Deputy Regional Grand Knight of the Noble Order of the Knight of Marshall, Cape Coast, but has been unjustly treated by Professor Afful Broni, his church father.

Giving further details of his complaints in the petition, Mr. Bruno Bajuase had this to say;
“Within my period as the Finance Officer of the University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni insistently told me that we should arrange and bring a certain man by name Mr. Francis Obeng from University of Cape Coast as the Deputy Finance Officer to support me with my work since he had sacked and suspended a number of the finance staffs. I objected on the grounds that I needed to be confirmed before I could constitute my finance team”
Continuing, the Actin Finance Officer said;
“Unknown to me, Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful Broni had invited Mr. Francis Obeng to sit on Appointments and Promotions Board of the University to interview finance staff for confirmation and appointments without my involvement and recommendation whereas I was and still the Acting Finance Officer. Surprisingly, he introduced Mr. Francis Obeng to me as the new Finance Officer and ordered me in a letter to hand over my schedule to him”
According to the Acting Finance Officer, his unwarranted dismissal and the consequent appointment of Mr. Francis Obeng is precipitated on a grand scheme to cover up the misappropriation of funds by Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful Broni and the Registrar of the University, Mr. Paul Osei Barimah since he has always questioned monies the two persons were ordering to be paid out of the University’s account.

He also states in the petition that he is privy to several irregularities currently ongoing in the University and because of his opposition to same, he is being sacked.
Praying Archbishop Palmer-Buckle to advise Reverend Father Afful Broni to stop in his tracks in his various moves to victimize him and to use him as a scapegoat to achieve his tendentious agenda of getting rid of staff members he claims he cannot work with, the beleaguered finance officer narrated how the Vice Chancellor has consistently hauled insults at him in public. He also says in the petition that the VC has gone ahead to change locks in his office, thereby denying him access to his own office when no handing over has taken place.
Mr. Bujuase cannot fathom why Rev. Father Afful Broni would victimize many members of the Catholic Church in UEW, and is asking Archbishop Palmer-Buckle to, as a matter of urgency, intervene to safeguard the name of the Catholic Church as his actions are in sharp contrast with the position he wields and the dictates of the Catholic Church in its entirety.
