Academic Intervention: SHS Teachers and Students to report on August 19 for ‘Compulsory’ Extra Classes – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES)  has directed all Forms 2 Students in the various public Senior High/ Technical Institutions to report to School on August 19,2019 for a compulsory extra classes.

The GES said all teachers in the Senior High/Technical Institutions should also report on the same day to assist the students.

In a letter dated July 5,2019, and signed by Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amakwah,the GES indicated their decision to call for an extra tution was due to interet shown by teachers in that regard.

According to the letter,the GES has received letters from Schools across the country showing their interest in organizing an extra tution for the students.

The letter said the teachers emphasized much on helping students with learning difficulties.

Academic Intervention

The GES said it has accepted the decision of the teachers in principle, because it was the very reason for the introduction of the ‘Academic Intervention’ as part of the Free Senior High School Programme.

The GES has directed all regional directors to urge heads of schools to prepare and add the appropriate Time Table as well as the teachers involved in applying for funding related to the programme.
