121 more Covid-19 cases push Ghana’s tally to 1,671, with 188 recoveries

Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have increased by 121 pushing the tally to 1,671, the Health Service has disclosed.

According to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Aboagye, 33 more patients have recovered, sending the total number to 188.

“As of this morning [Tuesday, April 28, 2020], we have 1,671 cases. Out of this, 563 have come from general surveillance, 105 still remain part of the earlier quarantine, 10 from the quarantine in Tamale and 1,113 from enhanced tracing.

“188 have recovered and there are more people waiting for their second test to be discharged,” Dr Aboagye said at the Ministry of Information’s press briefing on Tuesday.

Out of the total number of cases, Dr Aboagye indicated that 1,461 are not showing symptoms and are responding to treatment.

However, six are moderately and critically ill.

“Two are at UGMC [University of Ghana Medical Centre], three are at the Ga East Municipal and one at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.”

Dr Aboagye said 237 people who have tested positive for the virus but are not in health facilities, are being in kept in isolation centres.

Out of this number, 174 are in isolation in Accra, Eastern and Ashanti regions have 50 and nine, respectively.

Aside from Savanna, Bono East, Bono and Ahafo, all other regions have recorded Covid-19 cases.

Greater Accra remains Ghana’s epicentre with 1,433 cases, Ashanti 84, Eastern 57, Upper East 18, Oti 17, Central 17, Northern 13, Volta 11, Western 9, Upper West 8, North East 2 and Western North 1.
