WAEC announces procedure for correction of errors on documents before release of results

BEST 2021 PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULT CON for BECE FRAUD 20 exam WAEC education private

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says a candidate with an error in name or date of birth can visit any of the offices of the Council across the country for the necessary corrections before the release of a WAEC result.

A staff of the Council, Mr Ben K. Owusu in an interview monitored said an error in a candidate’s name can be altered once the result for the particular examination the candidate sat for has not been released.

“So after registration and you detect an error in your name or date of birth before the results are released you can bring to our attention but once the results are released the policy is that we don’t change the date of birth,” he stated.

Explaining the policy, the Head, National Examination Administration Department – WAEC said candidates after registration for a WAEC exam are allowed to go through the statement of entries for any errors or mistakes.

“At first we used to change that but the volume of cases of incorrect date of births that were coming were so plenty that we had to introduced that no change of date of the birth policy after the release of results,” Mr Ben added.

According to him, the Examinations Council has stopped the amendments or correction of date of birth due to the increase in cases of prospective candidates falsifying their ages for some reason to suit their interest.

Mr Ben Owusu advised students or members of the public to visit the nearest office of the West African Examinations Council and not contact any individual claiming to be a staff of the not for profit organization for the process.
