Takoradi Technical University denies taking illegal Fees from Students

The Takoradi Technical University has denied  social media rumours that it is collecting fees that are supposedly outside the normal school fees.

The University wishes to state that all monies being collected are done in
consultation with the SRC and authorized by Management.

The monies being collected are:
1. Ghc100 for Health and safety
2. Ghc100 for Faculty and Departmental Dues
3. Ghc30 Registration processing Fee.

The University however makes it clear that negotiations on these monies
were finalized on 10th July, 2019, and therefore could not add them to the
main fees which were communicated to the students in June 2019.

However, the  University assures all concerned that receipts are being issued in respect
of such monies.

EXPLANATIONS
1. Ghc100 Health and Safety Fee is being collected after a study by the
University showed that the Health and safety certificate has become a
mandatory requirement in majority of institutions for employment and
therefore decided to run it as a mandatory core subject for all programmes.

This will help place our students a step ahead in terms of job acquisition
and other opportunities. The amount was arrived at and agreed upon with the SRC.

2. Ghc100 Faculty and Departmental Fee is a fee proposed by the SRC
for the various students associations and unions for their activities.

This amount used to be decided and collected by the various Faculties and
Departments at different rates but management upon negotiations agreed
with the student body for uniformity in the amount being collected.

3. Ghc30 Registration Processing and Services Fee: This amount is
being collected to subsidize utilities due to no increment in school fees for
the past four years.
