Oti Region schools, including Kadjebi-Asato SHS and Bueman SHS will contest in NSMQ 2025. Here’s the full list of qualifiers, seeded schools, and the region’s outlook.

Oti Region — Building Its NSMQ Identity

The Oti Region, carved from the Volta Region in 2018, is still carving its identity in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). While it is yet to produce a national finalist, its schools are gradually rising in confidence and visibility on the national stage.Schools like Kadjebi-Asato SHS (KASEC) and Bueman SHS have become the face of the region’s participation, consistently qualifying to represent Oti in recent editions.

Seeded Schools

As of NSMQ 2024, no school from the Oti Region secured a seeded position. All representatives for NSMQ 2025 emerged from the regional qualifiers.

Regional Qualifiers

The following schools will represent the Oti Region in NSMQ 2025 after qualifying through competitive preliminaries:
  • Kadjebi-Asato SHS (KASEC)
  • Bueman SHS
  • Nkwanta Community SHS
These schools reflect the region’s steady progress in promoting science education and competing nationally.

Girls’ Schools Representation

Currently, no all-girls school from Oti Region has qualified for NSMQ 2025. However, girls from mixed schools like KASEC and Bueman SHS will still feature in the contest, ensuring gender representation is not completely absent.

Key Storylines to Watch

  • KASEC’s Experience: As the most consistent NSMQ participant from Oti, can they finally make a statement on the national stage?
  • Bueman SHS’s Ambition: Known for resilience, they could spring a surprise in the early rounds.
  • New Entrants: Nkwanta Community SHS will be eager to prove that emerging schools can compete at the highest level.

Outlook

The Oti Region remains a developing force in NSMQ. While the region has yet to make a major breakthrough nationally, its schools are laying the foundation for future success. NSMQ 2025 could provide the perfect opportunity for KASEC or Bueman SHS to go beyond the preliminaries and announce Oti’s arrival on the big stage.
