KNUST College Of Health Sciences honours 39 Outstanding Students And Employees

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has held the “2022 CHS Excellence Awards Ceremony” on Friday 18th March 2022 at the Great Hall.

The event aims at appreciating hard-working staff, students and prominent alumni who have distinguished themselves in various disciplines.

The Provost of the College, Professor Christian Agyare, in his welcome address revealed that the College continues to play an overarching role in expanding access to higher education and strives to carve a niche by ensuring that the health and professional needs of students and stakeholders are considered in the training of health professionals.

This, he explained, could not be achieved without the support of the noble and hardworking staff and alumni that is why it is necessary to honour them.

Professor Agyare also explained that recognition is the backbone of Success for every endeavour.

He added that the College rides on this premise to motivate its staff, students, and selected alumni to continually excel in their fields.

“We introduce 3 new categories (innovation, research, and community engagement) to recognise our students who are performing well and staff who are conducting impactful research,” he said.

Professor Agyare expressed his gratitude to the University Management, especially the Vice-Chancellor and sponsors who assisted in diverse ways to improve service delivery in the areas of teaching, research, and community engagement.

He noted that the College has always been the best and first in terms of research output. He, therefore, called on the industry to partner with the College to highlight challenges they are faced with and conduct research that will improve service delivery in the Country.

He indicated that KNUST as a research-intensive institution is keen on the provision of ground-breaking industry-ready solutions that positively impact the lives of individuals in society, with the support of its alumni.
