Newly Trained Teachers from the Public Colleges of Education in Ghana shall no longer ‘enjoy’ direct Postings by the Ghana Education Service (GES) after Completion of their Diploma or Bachelor Degrees in Education.
This confirmation was made known by the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh in Parliament today Tuesday, March 12, 2019.
According to the Minister, Trained teachers will only be employed into the Ghana Education Service (GES) by applying for vacant positions.
This he said, will be after they have passed their Licensure Examination at the end of their National Service.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh said this in response to a question filed by the Member of Parliament (MP) of Akatsi North, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe.
Mr Nortsu-Kotoe wanted to know the steps the ministry is taking to absorb all privately trained teachers into the education sector as done by the Ministry of Health.

Possibility of Employment for 2018 Newly Trained Teachers
Though Newly Trained Teachers are expected to apply for vacant positions in the GES,the possibility of the employment of the 2018 Batch who are currently undertaking their mandatory National Service is high.
This is because, in 2018, before the commencement of the historic National Service, the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, confirmed to students that government had released financial clearance for their employment after NSS.
