Worried about when your GES salary will be paid after posting? Here’s the full timeline and process breakdown for newly posted teachers in Ghana.
🧾 What Happens After You’re Posted?
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has laid down a structured process for salary validation and payment after teacher postings. Unfortunately, most newly posted teachers—especially in rural areas—experience long delays, often due to missing steps or documentation issues.
This guide explains the official salary processing timeline, from posting to first payment, and what you must do at each stage.
✅ Step 1: Assumption of Duty (Week 1–2)
Immediately after receiving your posting letter, report to your school within 5 working days and submit:
- Endorsed Posting Letter
- Assumption of Duty form
- National ID (Ghana Card)
- SSNIT Number
- Passport photos (usually 3–6)
- Bank account details
🔔 Tip: Keep photocopies of all submitted documents.
✅ Step 2: Forwarding to District/Municipal Office (Week 2–3)
The school sends your documents to the District Education Office. The Human Resource Officer validates them and submits to the IPPD coordinator for capturing into the salary system.
Follow up in person to ensure documents don’t get delayed or lost.
✅ Step 3: IPPD Capturing & Staff ID Generation (Month 1–2)
Once your data is validated, the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Database (IPPD) generates a Staff ID.
📌 You will receive your Staff ID via SMS or from your district office.
Without a Staff ID, you cannot be paid.
✅ Step 4: Biometric Registration (Month 2–3)
With your Staff ID, proceed to the GES-designated biometric center, usually at the regional office, to complete biometric registration.
This includes fingerprinting, photo capture, and verification with GES/Controller.
✅ Step 5: Validation for Payroll (Month 3–5)
Your data is now sent to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) for payroll validation.
You are now eligible to be added to the next payroll cycle if all information is correct.
📌 Deadline Alert: Teachers who complete this by the 15th of the month are typically paid by the end of the next month.
✅ Step 6: First Salary Payment (Month 4–6)
Once validated, your salary is paid into your bank account, and your salary slip will be accessible at GOGPayslip Portal.
You will also receive salary arrears from the date of assumption of duty.
