The Ghana Education Service (GES) has introduced new posting guidelines for newly trained teachers, including a self-posting portal. Here’s a full breakdown of the 2025 GES posting process, required documents, and what to do after posting.

    📝 Introduction

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has outlined updated procedures for the posting of newly trained teachers from public Colleges of Education. Unlike in previous years, 2025 postings now include a self-posting feature via the official GES posting portal.

These reforms aim to ensure transparency, streamline deployment, and empower teachers to choose preferred regions and districts—within limits.

🧭 Step-by-Step Guide to the GES Posting Process

    🔹 1. Verification of Eligibility

To qualify for GES posting, candidates must:

    • Be graduates from an accredited public College of Education.
    • Have passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
    • Completed mandatory National Service.
    • Have obtained a valid NSS certificate.
    • Possess a valid Ghana Card and Birth Certificate.
    • Have undergone Indexing by NTC and passed medical exams.

    🔹 2. Self-Posting via the GES Portal

GES has now implemented a self-posting system at:

    Here’s how it works:

    1. Visit the portal and log in with your credentials.
    2. Pay a processing fee of GHS 10.00–GHS 20.00 via mobile money.
    3. Choose your preferred region and district from the available options.
    4. Download your Appointment Letter immediately after posting.
    5. Print and submit the letter to your chosen district education office for endorsement.

🚨 Note: Choices are based on availability. Hard-to-reach areas may be prioritized.

📑 Documents Required After Downloading Posting Letter

After self-posting and receiving your letter, prepare the following:

    • Endorsed Posting Letter
    • Endorsed Assumption of Duty form
    • Valid Ghana Card
    • NSS Certificate
    • Certified GTLE Result Slip
    • Passport-sized photographs (2–4 copies)
    • SSNIT number (or registration form)
    • Ezwich/Bank account details (if requested)

📍 What To Do After Assumption of Duty

Once you report to your school:

    1. Submit your endorsed forms to the District Education Office.
    2. Follow up at the IPPD Unit for Staff ID processing.
    3. Wait for your Staff ID to enable salary processing.
    4. Register on the GES HRMIS portal (if required).

    ⚠️ Mistakes to Avoid

    • Delaying your assumption of duty (must be done within 5 working days).
    • Failing to submit complete documents.
    • Using unofficial agents or middlemen for posting or staff ID.
    • Selecting only urban districts, which might be oversubscribed.
    • Ignoring orientation sessions organized by the district.
