Fate of UEW graduates in limbo as governing Council expires

The fate of some 10,000 students who have completed their education at the University of Education, Winneba, could is in limbo as tenure of University Council runs out on July 17, 2019.

The expiration of the tenure means that there will not be a legitimate body in place to authorise the graduation of the students.

This will mean such students will have to wait a while longer before having access to their certificates.

Already, the University is slated to hold graduation for the 2018/2019 batch of its products from the 20th of July, three clear days after the expiration of the Governing Council’s mandate.

Starr News sources have revealed that the lacunae could also ground administrative activities at the University as the Council’s approval is needed in most decisions before they could be implemented.

Some lecturers are therefore calling on government and the Ministry of Education to fast track the reconstitution of the University Governing Council so that the University could run smoothly.
