COVID-19 WASSCE: 2020 WASSCE will contain 25 Candidates per classroom– WAEC

As part of an effort to slow the spread and prevent an outbreak of COVID-19 during the conduct of the 2020 WASSCE for school candidates, the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) has arranged for at least 25 candidates to be in a classroom.

The Head of WAEC Examinations Administration, Mr. Godfred Addo speaking in a Zoom interview with Samuel Eshun on Happy Morning show monitored by Georgeweb.org said the Council has reduced the number of candidates per classroom from the previous 30 to 25 to ensure maximum social distancing during and after the examination.

He said that this will protect the prospective candidates, supervisors, and invigilators on duty from contracting the novel coronavirus that has killed at least 117 people in the country as of the time writing this post.

Mr. Godfred Addo added that hand gloves will be provided to invigilators for a thorough inspection and distributing of question papers to candidates according to their index number.

He noted that veronica buckets, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and other preventive coronavirus items will be made available to candidates and other authorized persons to be at the various examination centres.

Mr. Godfred Addo furthered that Candidates are expected to arrive at the examination centre at least one (1) hour before the start of the examination.

“I know we are not in normal times as President Akufo-Addo always says but I can assure candidates that all the questions are from the syllabus, they should stop seeking for Apor and focus on their books and learn,” he advised.

He gave the assurance that the annual examination leakages associated with the conduct of the test will not be experienced this year.
