Selection Period Opens May 27
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the commencement of the 2025 BECE school selection period, running from May 27 to June 6, 2025. All candidates are required to make informed school choices within the specified timeframe to ensure successful placement into senior high schools or TVET institutions.
Candidates Must Select 7 Schools
As part of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), candidates must choose a total of seven schools:
- Five main choices (including boarding and day options)
- Two alternative choices (in case of non-placement in the main list)
Category and Boarding/Day Requirements
To ensure fairness and distribution across institutions, the following limits apply:
- No more than one Category A school
- No more than two Category B schools
- Candidates must include at least 3 boarding schools and at least 2 day schools in their five main choices.
TVET and STEM Pathways Available
Candidates interested in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) must choose five institutions from Categories A, B, and C. These can be either day or boarding schools.
For those with interests in engineering, medicine, space science, and related disciplines, the GES recommends selecting from approved STEM-based schools.
Parental Involvement Is Mandatory
Each school selection form must be:
- Signed by a parent or guardian
- Submitted to the candidate’s headmaster or headmistress
Parents are advised to keep a copy of the completed form for future reference, as school choices are final once submitted.
