Accra College Undergraduate Students give Authorities 3-week ultimatum to install PA Systems in Lecture Halls

The Newly admitted Bachelor of Education Students of the Accra College of Education have called on the authorities of the College to provide Public Address Systems in all Lecture Halls before the beginning of the Second and final part of the first semester of the 2019/20 Academic year.

The students said the unavailability of Public Address Systems in their lecture halls has caused fatigue for their Tutors which affects their learning.

Delivering the Observation Speech on behalf of the level 100 students at the 2nd Matriculation Ceremony of the Fresh Students on Thursday, December 5, 2019, Miss Noretta Mensah, a Bachelor of Education (JHS ) fresher noted that the unfortunate situation must be given an urgent consideration by the administration.

Erratic Power Supply

Speaking on the supply of electricity for use on campus, the students lamented on the rate at which their lights go off continuously.

The students said though the problem did not come from the authorities, they hope for a quick solution to the power problems in some of their lecture halls.

Furniture

The students also lamented on the nature of the arrangement of the furniture in their lecture halls.

They said the furniture in the halls has no uniformity, of which some have no arms rest, a situation they said affects lessons in class.

Congestion at Halls of Residence

The students talked about the congestion at their halls of residence.b  They lamented on the possible event of an outbreak of any epidemic and the effect on the students at the various halls of residence.

The students called on the authorities to take urgent measures to resolve the problems.

Principal’s Response

Speaking to pressmen after the ceremony, the Principal of the College, Dr Samuel Awikene Atintono indicated that the College realized the need to expand technology after an increment in the admission number and the number of students in the lecture halls.

He noted that the College was in the process of installing Public Address Systems in the Lecture halls.
