The Accra College of Education (AcCE) has graduated some 377 trained teachers to occupy some vacant classrooms in the country.
The College graduated less than 400 graduands comprising three batches at a time it is facing Infrastructural and Staff deficit.
The Congregation comprises three batches of graduands and took place on Saturday,May 18,2019.
The batches include 304 regular graduates with Diploma in Basic Education and 54 graduates being awarded Certificate ‘A’ under the two-year sandwich programme.
The third batch comprises 19 graduates receiving certificates under the Untrained Teachers Diploma in Basic Education, by distance mode.

Message to Graduates
The Principal of the College , Dr Samuel Awinkene Atintono,urged the graduates to portray a good picture of the College at their work places.
He urged the graduands to strive to familiarize themselves with the various reforms that had been introduced into the educational systems and be prepared to obtain a licence for their professional practice.
”You are graduating at a time that b there are a number of reforms in the teaching profession such as the National Teachers Standards (NTS) and the Licensure Exams.You need to familiarize with the reforms and ensure that you pass the exams to obtain your license for professional practice”.He said.
Infrastructure and Staff deficit
The Principal of the College , appealed to the Ministry of Finance to give the institution a financial clearance to enable it absorb more teaching staff to improve on its human resources and infrastructure base.
He also called on government to support the College with more infrastructural facilities to be able to meet the high number of intakes.
He indicated the number of hostel facilities and lecture halls available cannot enable the College to admit the high number of applicants annually.
He further indicated,the College received 1,505 applications for admission at the begriming of the 2018/19 Academic year.
According to the principal, 1.262 applicants qualified for admission but the College was able to admit 322 of the qualified applicants,representing 25.5%.
The Principal said the College had a staff-strength of 82 made up 37 academics and 45 non-academic staff and the number was not the full complement of its manpower needs.
Awards
The College gave awards to deserving staff whose works were commendable within the academic year.
The congregation also saw Michael Boakye ,being awarded as the best graduating student with a CGPA of 3.85.
In all, Eight (8) students graduated with First Class Honors ,which has been considered as the best in the College’s history since the introduction of the Diploma in 2005.
Expression of Gratitude
Dr Atintono commended the staff and management of the College for their support ,loyalty and hard work within the year .
He also commended government’s effort for the construction of a three-storey lecture hall and an office block to provide more space to reduce overcrowding in the classrooms.
He said that the college’s roads had also been tarred and lauded the Ministry of Energy for providing 100 street lights valued at GH¢ 100, 000, to the institution, to improve security on campus for the safety of students and staff.
