Okuapemman honours World ROBOFEST Champions; MEGHIS with Ghc5M Endowment Fund

The Akuapem Traditional Council under the auspices  of the Kyidom Division in collaboration with the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly has organized a Special Akwasidae Durbar in Honour of Methodist Girls Senior High School (MEGHIS).

MEGHIS has brought international fame and glory to Okuapemman in particular and Ghana as a whole at Mamfe Akuapem.

Nana Mamfehene announced the setting up of 5 million Ghana Cedis Endowment Fund to support the activities of robotic training and other related co curricula initiatives in the school.

The Akuapem Kyidomhene called on all benevolent organizations and individuals to make generous donations towards the fund.


The Okuapehemea, Nana Efua Nketia Obuo II, was full of praise for the world robotic champions as she called on young girls to emulate the wonders chalked by these gallant girls.


She presented hampers to all the ten students, the two coaches and the team members of the Ghana Robotic Academy Foundation, who were present.

Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum a Deputy Minister of Education (General Education) assured the colorful gathering, that all the challenges facing the school as raised by the Mamfehene/Kyidomhene of Akuapem Traditional Area, Osaberima Nana Ansa Sasraku III would be addressed head-on without delay.


He also promised to ensure that, Mr. Ben Amoako, the Coordinator for the Robotic Team in the school, will be recruited as a full time teacher with the Ghana Education Service.

This pronouncement by the Deputy Minister, received thunderous applause from the gathering.

Donations
The team and the school received various gifts and presents from organizations and individuals.

The Akuapem North Municipal Assembly presented 20,000 Ghana cedis to the team.

Minerals Commission presented 50 Ghana cedis. Richie Plantain donated 10,000 Ghana cedis and Dr Adjei Twumasi, Accountant with the Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong, donated 3,000 Ghana cedis to the endowment fund.


Among the top government officials present were; Hon Gifty Twum Ampofo, MP, a Deputy Education of Minister (TVET) ,Mr Kofi Benjamin Gyesi, Chief Director, Ministry of Education,Catherine Appia Pinkra, Director Pre Tertiary Education, Ministry of Education,Lawyer Anthony Boateng, Deputy Director General,
Ghana Education Service and Eastern Regional Director of Education, Madam Monica Ankrah.
