JUST IN: Gov’t absorbs Registration fees of 2020 Free SHS WASSCE Students

The Government of Ghana has absorbed the registration Fess, Administrative Costs and the Cost of Practicals for all Candidates of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to be written in 2020.

The Ghana Education Service in a letter dated December 9, 2019, signed by its Director-General, Prof. Kwesi Opoku-Amankwa to all Regional Directors of Education said all Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education should inform all heads of Second Cycle Institutions to adhere to the order.

The letter However indicated that parents were responsible for the cost of pictures during the registration period.

All heads of Schools are to inform all parents, guardians and stakeholders of the new development.

BECE 2020

Public Basic School candidates preparing for the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) shall not be charged by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to pay registration fees before taking part in the forthcoming exams.

This is because the government has decided to pay the registration fees of all candidates from all public institutions.

 

According to a 13th November 2019 Internal Memorandum of WAEC, the government has decided to pay the registration fee which cost GHC88 pee candidate.

Government, since 2017/18 Academic promised and has committed to paying the BECE registration fees of all candidates from its institutions.
