Jan 2020 Rankings: UG,KNUST and UCC are Top 3 Tertiary Institutions in Ghana

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has released the January 2020 edition of its annual rankings of tertiary institutions in Ghana.

This year, 64 institutions were featured in the ranking.

Indicators used for the ranking were Presence, Impact, Openness, and Excellence.

For this year, the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, and University for Development Studies maintained their respective places in the top four.

University of Education, Winneba, who ranked six in the January 2019 rankings, is now the fifth-best university in Ghana.

Privately-owned Ashesi University, although it stayed at 7th, is now the best private university in the country after Garden City University College fell from 5th in 2019 to 10th.

Regent University College of Science & Technology, who failed to be in the top 10 list last year are in 8th position and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, 9th.

According to Webometrics, below are the top 10 tertiary institutions in the country;

  1. University of Ghana
  2. Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology

  3. University of Cape Coast

  4. University for Development Studies

  5. University of Education, Winneba

  6. University of Mines & Technology Tarkwa

  7. Ashesi University

  8. Regent University College of Science & Technology

  9. Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration

  10. Garden City University College
