Government has approved plans to construct through GETFund, a new building to serve as a National Headquarters for the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Education made this known to members of UTAG at their biennial Congress at the KNUST, Kumasi, on October 4,2019.
The Minister also paid tribute to the outgoing National Executive Committee (NEC) led by Dr. Eric Opoku for their leadership and regular engagement with government during their tenure, notwithstanding some challenges during those engagements.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh also touched on issues regarding Free Senior High School and the implications for the universities next year, university teachers’ salary negotiations and the brouhaha on comprehensive sexuality education, among others.
“I further announced government’s approval of plans to construct, through GETFund, a new building to serve as the national headquarters for UTAG.” He said on his facebook page.
“It was a fruitful and cordial engagement and I look forward to enjoying a healthy working relationship with the incoming executives, led by Prof. Charles Marfo.” The Minister concluded.
