GES under pressure as Newly Trained Teachers threaten with ‘NO POSTING NO VOTE’ Campaign

TEACHERS #NOPOSTINGNOVOTE

Newly trained teachers from the country’s Public Colleges of Education have threatened to vote against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December 7, 2020 elections should the Ghana Education Service deny them postings before the elections.

The Newly Trained Teachers range from the 2017 to 2019 batches who believed the government has disappointed them with regards to their postings.

NAPO’s Promise

The Minister of Education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) earlier indicated, that Graduates from the Country’s Public Colleges of Education who completed College in 2017, 2018 and 2019 shall be posted to their various Regions from Monday, November 23, 2020.

The Minister made this revelation on JAMAN 103.7 Radio on Friday, November 20, 2020.

According to the Minister, the  2017 and 2018 graduates from colleges of Education who were denied postings for obvious reasons and were allowed to reapply shall be posted alongside 2019 graduates who completed their National Service.

But the Miniter’s assurance has not materialised, leading to a state of confusion among the graduates.

GES explanation on delays

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the posting of Graduates from the Colleges of Education who completed in 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively shall be released in the shortest possible time.

The GES made this revelation in a statement issued and signed by its Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum-Ampofo on November 26, 2020 regarding its delay in the posting of graduates from the above mentioned year groups.

Reasons for Delay

According to the GES, the delay of the postings was due to technical difficulties faced by its Human Resouce Unit during the process.

”The inability to publish the list is due to some technical difficulties. It is the desire of the service to post recruited staff to fill specific vacancies as declared at the school from the districts and therefore the technical difficulties needed to be resolved to ensure smooth processing if the list” The GES has said.
