Do not prevent Teachers from being temporary EC staff – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Education Directors to allow teachers who are interested in taking part in temporary Electoral Commission jobs to do so.

The GES in a statement dated June  29,2020, and signed by its Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo stated that the GES had not authorised the issuance of any directive from any Regional Directorate to prevent teachers from engaging in the ongoing Electoral Commission temporary job.

The statement further indicated any Director who has issued any such directive should withdraw it immediately.

” Directors and school authorities should ensure the core duties of teachers and staff of the service who have been elected to assist with national assignments such as voter registration are not unduly affected.” It said.
