The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service. Prof. Kwesi Opoku Amankwa has said that New Standard -Based Curriculum has successfully been implemented from KG – B6 and all stakeholders are working hard to make it succeed and become better.
He said this at the Stakeholders Engagement on the New Common Core Program (CCP) Curriculum for JHS 1 to SHS 1 in Accra.
”Chairperson, our collective desire to groom the next generation of Ghanaians who will take their rightful places in society began with the Standards-Based Curriculum.”
”As we sit here today, it has successfully been implemented from B1-B6 and all stakeholders are working hard to make it succeed and become better.” He said.

Economic Demands
According to him, Ghana’s ever-growing economy now demands competent human resources required for accelerated sustainable national development.
A decision he believes was needed for the engagement of stakeholders on the New Common Core Programme (CCP) Curriculum for JHS 1 to SHS 1 Learners.
He said the stakeholders’ engagement gives stakeholders the opportunity to contribute to this feat by making relevant inputs and suggestions that will help improve the quality of the draft Common Core Programme (CCP) curriculum.
Prof. Kwesi Amankwa said this in his welcome speech at the Stakeholders Engagement on the CCP Curriculum held at the GNAT Hall in Accra on February 28, 2020.

He further elaborated, that the collective desire to groom the next generation of Ghanaians who will take their rightful places in society begins with the Standards-Based Curriculum.
”Contemporary trends in education and the future of jobs require that young people must acquire and demonstrate core competencies such as critical thinking and problem solving, leadership and personal development, cultural identity and global citizenship, communication and collaboration, creativity and innovation, and digital literacy. These important competencies make one successful in the work environment.” .
”Our learners from the school system must become lifelong learners and our teachers must be able to inspire, motivate and nurture their learners to be honest, creative and responsible citizens.” He said.
