Breaking: Tertiary Education Minister Prof. Yankah elected to represent party in Agona East

Minister of Education in-charge of Tertiary Education, Prof. Kwesi Yankah has been elected as the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Agona East constituency.

He beat his two opponents, Mr Prince Yaw Essah, a Chartered Accountant and Tourism Development Fund Administrator at the Ghana Tourism Authority and an Economics Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Dr Kennedy Abrokwa.

Of the 570 votes cast, Prof. Yankah garnered 267 votes, leaving his two other opponents, Mr. Essah, an accountant with 127 votes and lecturer Dr. Abrokwa with 175 votes. One of the votes was rejected.

Similarly, the Deputy National Security Coordinator in-charge of Airports, Hopeson Adorye, has been elected to represent the party in Kpone Katamanso constituency ahead of the 2020 Parliamentary elections.

Hopeson Adoye secured 321 votes with his closest opponent, William Asante, managing some 203 votes.

Two other aspirants in the race, Prince Dadzie and David Annang both pulled 56 and 46 votes respectively.

Other persons who have secured victory in the NPP Parliamentary primaries are Nii Lante Bannerman in the Odododiodio constituency and Deputy Energy Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam in the Karaga Constituency.

The New Patriotic Party held primaries in about a 100 constituencies where it has no sitting MPs.
