Asantehene Cuts Sod for Construction of Nine-Story KNUST Alumni Hostel

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cut sod for the construction of a nine-storey alumni hostel at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to accommodate new and continuing students.

He also commissioned the school’s newly built GUSS sports complex, beach soccer park and hospital car park as part of activities marking his 20th Anniversary as overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Addressing the gathering before the sword cutting, contractor and CEO of SAFI Properties Limited, the company constructing the hostel, Mr Samuel Nana Freduah Agyemang Prempeh, assured that the hostel will be ready ”soon as expected.”

“When completed, the hostel will house about thousand students…,”  he told the gathering that included chiefs, lecturers, renowned academicians, students and other distinguished members of the public.

The hostel which is expected to accommodate up to 1000 students and will be completed within eight months time is a Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) facility by SAFI Properties.

Board Chairman of SAFI Properties Limited, Bishop Divine Adjei lauded the Asantehene and the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Obiri Danso for supporting such a noble venture.

He hinted that the company will also be executing a number of projects to help with the facelift of the institution after the current project.
