Ghana has moved up in the 2019 World Happiness Report.
The West African country placed 108 last year but are currently ranked 98 in the Report.
The World Happiness Report was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations on March 20, the United Nations has declared to be International Day of Happiness.
The report, which is a survey of global happiness ranks countries on six key variables that support well-being: income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity.
“The top 10 countries tend to rank high in all six variables, as well as emotional measures of well-being,” says report co-editor John Helliwell, a professor emeritus of economics at the University of British Columbia.
This report is the seventh to come out since 2012. The rankings of the world’s happiest countries came from an analysis of data from surveys in 156 countries, including the Gallup World Poll starting in 2005-2006.
According to the report, Ghana is the 98th Most Happy country in the world.
This puts the country behind Pakistan (67), Libya (72), Nigeria (85) and Cameroon (89).
The key variables, which are used in the rankings, are income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust, and generosity.
Finland maintained its place as the Most Happy nation in the World.
Four of the least most happiest countries were from the African continent.
Rwanda (152), Tanzania (153), Afghanistan (154), Central African Republic (155) and South Sudan (156) were the least happiest country in the world.
