The Collective Agreement is a document that contains the accepted conditions of service of workers in the Ghana Education Service (GES) as agreed upon by their Union leadership and representatives of the GES at a meeting organized for such purpose.
In August 2020, both parties met to decide on an agreement after the 2009 Collective Agreement expired several years without being renewed.
The Collective Agreement outlined the Content of the Letter of Appointment of teachers recruited into the Ghana Education Service (GES).

According to the Approved Incremental Credits for Teachers in the GES, the agreement indicated that;
1 All employees shall have their anniversary dates as their incremental dates.
2 Incremental credits shall be earned by merit i.e. efficient work and good conduct and shall not be granted as an entitlement merely because of service for a prescribed period.
If at any time, there is evidence that an employee’s work and conduct are unsatisfactory he
shall be warned in writing by his immediate supervisor. Where the Employer fails to make a recommendation to withhold or pay the increment, the employee shall be deemed to have earned it.
3 All recommendations for the award of increments shall be submitted not later than three (3) months before the incremental date.
4 If the increment is to be withheld because of unsatisfactory performance or conduct, the employee shall be advised in writing two (2) months in advance or two (2) months before the incremental date.
5 Only approved services shall count towards increment.
6 An annual performance appraisal report on the competency and efficiency and official conduct of each employee shall be conducted on a merit assessment form provided by Management before the employee is due for increment.
