Chief Director of the Ministry of Education, Benjamin Kofi Gyasi has said the country cannot ignore the relevance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) if it wants to attain its vision of becoming developed.
According to him, Ghana is still struggling to nurture great minds for the “technological and scientific progress” that the nation “desperately needs in order to lift” its “people from the depths of deprivation.”
He emphasized that “no nation that seeks to make progress can afford” to sideline the STEM subjects.
Speaking at the grand finale of the 2019 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz, Benjamin Kofi Gyasi reiterated government’s commitment to promoting STEM programmes.
He said that steps are being taken to enhance the teaching and learning.
“The ministry of education is taking active steps to invest in science centers at the senior high and basic school levels across the country, to enhance the teaching and learning of science”.
