EducationGhana| September 18| WASSCE 2022: WAEC releases list of 7 Schools involved in Syndicate Cheating
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released a list of seven (7) Senior High Schools involved in syndicate cheating in the 2022 WASSCE for School Candidates.
WAEC explained that this practice involves the collection of monies from candidates by teachers and the execution of pre-arranged plans by these same persons to assist candidates in cheating by solving questions and distributing photocopied/ printed solutions to the candidates.
A number of cases from the following schools have come to the attention of WAEC involved in syndicate cheating;
1. Asawinso Senior High School
2. Action, Madina Senior High School
3. Juaben Senior High School
4. Aduman Senior High School
5. Sunyani Business College
6. Oxford Business Senior High School, Sunyani
7. Miracle Senior High School, Sunyani
Increase in cases of inside-examination-hall malpractice
WAEC further disclosed that this occurs due to poor supervision and invigilation. Some of the recorded cases include bringing foreign material such as prepared notes, textbooks, pamphlets and mobile phones into the examination hall and exchanging answer/question booklets.
Deployment of other cheating tactics
These include the use of classrooms for elective papers instead of assembly halls to hinder effective monitoring of the examination, frequent visits to the washrooms and feigning of ailments.
