WAEC holds Workshop on Examination Malpractices for Final Year JHS and SHS Students

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has held a one-day sensitisation workshop on examination malpractices and its consequences for final year junior and secondary school students in Amansie West District.

About 600 junior high school candidates and 530 students from Mansoman and Manso Adubia secondary school, who have registered to sit down for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West Africa Senior school Certificate Examination (WASSCE), attended the workshop.

The workshop was aimed at informing the candidates on examination malpractices and therefore the sanctions that exist for such perpetrators.

Awareness was created on the necessity to reject varied kinds of malpractices like impersonation, sending foreign materials into examination halls, using mobile phones throughout examination and sending supposed leaked question papers into examination halls among others.

Mr Kwabena Owusu, the District Director of Education, saidit waspart of efforts to organize the candidates to brace themselves for theirunfinished examinations.

He urged them to still learn laborious and refrain from any plan to cheat during the examinations.

Mr Owusu stated that, teachers are prepared to help them to cover all areas and that they should not hesitate to seek the assistance of their teachers in areas wherever they found difficulties.

He commended WAEC for coming back to the aid} of the candidates within the District and urged them to continue to help cut back the incidence of examination malpractices within the country.
Mr Michael Antwi Manu, headmaster of Mansoman senior high school, said they were no shortcuts to success in the examination.

They ought to, therefore, work effortlessly and ask for the support of their teachers in their efforts, he said.
